I served on the board of the Sunshine Coast Museum and Archives with Mike for nine months from May 2013 to Jan 2014. In this nine months I observed and listened. I observed some very shocking things and heard some very inappropriate comments come out of his mouth. In one of my first board meetings the Curator brought the idea of joining the welcoming committee to welcome newcomers to the Sunshine Coast for board consideration. She wanted to open the museum up as a safe place for new residents to learn about the history of their new home. Mike said "I have it on good information that that is just a front for getting illegals jobs in this town". He had no information to back up his comments and the idea was shot down by his fear mongering. I felt this comment and the way he said it to be very racist and targeted. He Then said a comment about the museums Halloween event having a likeness to a strip show, saying in a board meeting "If its just people we want through the front door why don't we have strippers" Mike is not an appropriate person to have as an elected official.
