Simon would benefit from formal training and mentoring. While well intentioned, he lacks necessary education, skills and some required attributes (e.g. leadership skills). Simon has no previous relevant experience and was moved into a directorship role without adequate preparation. His role directly affects people's lives and I recommend he seek 360 degree feedback (especially seeking out feedback from former members of OI) and undergo formal training and assessment. Simon is not a 'director' in the normal use of the word in business or government terms, it is a courtesy title given by OI, more for status than a true description of the role. I have endeavoured to be as fair in my ratings and comments as possible.
